Is this a metaphorical plot of a barbie doll that has no trademark profession? Yay Ken is there! He's just Ken, I'm still suspicious that Robin is evil ngl or is not as good as she seems

So both Robin and Barbie’s mom are from Dreamland and they had to leave to save Barbie from the darkness…..I can see where Robin was protective of Barbie and why Barbie is mad at Robin. Now Barbie is at a new school in dreamland to learn her magic…..everything is perfect here too……let me guess, she’s going to merge nightmare land and dreamland?

The Lord Evernight subplot was good, but I'm not really digging that each land is its own isolated plot, it is making it seem like there is no true connected thematic lesson that overarches. The lessons Barbie does learn are a little too on the nose and I would expect a little more for a young adult book. Mother!? Is this Mother!? Oop, and Robin caught up to her before Dreamland..

I feel like the individual messages of each land are becoming too on the nose and bordering a fantasy book made for children and not young adults....I do like the motivation to find out what happened to her mom but I wish there was a more nefarious plot underlying everything bc it just seems like each land has minor inconveniences and no actual threats

Each land is teaching Barbie something new. Summerland: Enjoy moments in the moment in order to see its beauty and Candy/Forest land: Lean into your inner child/creativity to make any problem have many solutions. Bring back Ken! Don't just keep him in Summerland :(

In a way, this feels dystopian. A world where "fate" tells you who you become, no choice, just what they decide. You can't leave the "safety" of Heartland because there are dark forces. What are those dark forces? Why don't we talk about negative emotions? I think the true villain is Robin, I'm calling it now. Love Sunny
