I'm getting pretty sick and tired of getting creepy messages on here from guys looking to meet someone. I come here to share my love of books and to talk to others about them, get and make recommendations with my friends. I'm also happily married. There are like 6879 dating apps out there, why in the world would anyone even use Goodreads for that purpose?!

I agree. That's not what Goodreads is for. I've never gotten any such messages but if I did I'd ignore them.

Thanks so much! ❤️
Teresa wrote: "That's so funny"The messages themselves actually are, awful grammar and the things they say are just bizzare!

I just had the same problem and when I mentioned I was married, the person didn't seem to care and kept messaging. I was like, seriously? What's up with that?

Well you're gorgeous so I can't blame them. I'm just kidding (not about the gorgeous part) but yeah it is gross. Like you said there are sooo many dating sites. Maybe they have a book fetish? Hope it stops but glad you are just ignoring them. Hugs <3

Ugh, this has happened to me too, and it's why I'm a lot more hesitant to accept friend requests from guys, unfortunately.
I agree with Deanna...you are gorgeous. So, I can understand why they might be tempted. However, it is completely inappropriate & unacceptable.
Just don't message them back and unfriend them. You can block them, too. Maybe it's men who troll for smart women!? Lol! Still it's so creepy!

I'm a guy and for obvious reasons I thought people who are on Goodreads must be inherently good people and not creeps. I mean, you know, because of all the knowledge, perspectives, and stuff you learn from reading books.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you, Amy! :( I have a GoodReads friend who had some creep message her asking for her phone number, and when she refused to give it, he sent her profanity-laced tirades attacking her. Fortunately she reported him and he was booted from GR, hopefully any guys who have been harassing you will be kicked off this site as well!
Amen to that! I just block the weirdos but it is such a nuisance. I completely agree with everything you've said. I also changed my profile picture to something "generic". My old profile picture was of me and my young daughter. The creepy, taking-it-to-far "compliments" and out-right come-ones were disturbing. It only took a couple of these losers for me to yank down that photo. It's sad...and pathetic really. :/ xoxo
