this epilogue is so bizarre. the first third is tolstoy's musings about history and war, and then theres an update about the characters in the book, happily married etc. but then he pivots into philosophy of history and jurisprudence and how wrong historians are when focusing only on the rulers.This should have been a separate essay at the end i fear. i'm struggling and there's 20 pages left 😭

80% of the way through this and I've discovered that I've been thinking of the wrong book. I THOUGHT that Waterloo was in this book but theres 250 pages of plot left and we're still in 1812 so it's not likely. and the reason I thought waterloo happens in war and peace is because I thought that I have seen the BBC adaptation of War and Peace but it turns out that was Vanity Fair AND I HAD NO CLUE
