Corien probably convinced her to become the blood queen to help him through the mind speak that angels possess, and can also like take over minds (maybe? only logical explanation for her murder). In the prologue she gives birth to a baby I think is ELIANA because of the pendant, which Eliana later assumes to be of King Audric the Lightbringer. SOMEHOW THEY ARE STILL ALIVE AFTER YEARS

Ok so Simon is a Marque, part human part angel, and he is the son of Garver, who is helping Rielle. They both end up hating her because she ended up siding with the angels and killing many humans, including King Audric. HOWEVER, in the later chapters she is seen being manipulated by Corien- (char limit FREAK)
