Ha ha ha, Time Team ripoff "Treasure Hunters" with host 'Chris Dalton' has taken over the laat several chapters. I LIKE Time Team and am feeling rather defensive about it..!!!

The X-Files meets Agatha Christie.... but not as good as this might sound.

I like it slightly better than Kate Mosse's Labyrinth, which I detested.

What Penelope Lively can do in 200 pages no one in the current publishing cycle can seem to do in 450.
Editors: rein them in! Brevity!
(So far so creepy, but def could have been condensed)

Len I've never come across this one before. Is it at all similar to "Children of the Stones"?

message 2: by Capn (new) - added it

Capn Ha! I also have that on my shelf awaiting to be read!
Possibly? Two Yankees staying with English gran discover the tiny village of Triskellion is full of Agatha Christie-type villains (retried Commodore with an artificial leg and estranged son; a dodgy vicar; a publican with a dark secret; gran and the Commodore seem suspiciously chummy, etc.), a creepy Gypsy boy, modern day druids, and now Time Team (or a rip-off of) are there to dig things up and the apiarist and amateur archaeologist has been severely beaten by the druidic wannabees and is refusing to help with the dig. Oh, and one of the kids was kidnapped but escaped and found one of the 2 missing pieces of a triune Celtic relic of perhaps supernatural power...

Len So.... I won't work my bum off trying to find a copy. It sounds too 1970s to worry about. Children of the Stones, however, is worth a visit.
