The last scene moved it from a pretty good play (as far as Ibsen goes) to yet another great play by the Norwegian master.
Remember this was published in 1879. Nora may or may not be a feminist hero, but she sure is a feminist symbol. That, alone, doesn't make it a masterpiece of a play, of course. The devil, as always with Ibsen, is in the details — and those are there too, waiting to be unearthed on a second read.
