A breastfeeding mother is a vessel, a vampire is the predator.. but here, Beatrice is all of the above: the food source, the predator, caretaker and monster. She’s Mother. Valued but dispensable.
Is this what motherhood is like? The author creates an interesting parallel between vampirism and parenthood.
Society regards caregivers as sacred while simultaneously treating caregivers as secondary

Ashlyn, yes! Very intriguing just the execution is a bit slowly done. Could have been way better. But a strong 4 still
I need to hurry TF up and read my ARC, it is starting to ferment. She's one of my favorite authors too, I've just been busy
Courtney, the message in this book is STRONG. I only have the issue with the execution/pacing. Please do get to this, it’s really good! Visceral and haunting!

Have you read any of her other books? This would be like my fifth book by her so I'd say I'm well used to her writing style. The Luminous Dead was probably my favorite and the pacing is very looping and forward/backward/forward, done intentionally to throw you off balance and mess with your head (and it works).
