400 pages in and I'm completely absorbed by this book, above all by its characters.
They are so unapologetically real: selfish, vain, generous, cruel, brave, weak, ridiculous. Flawed in ways that feel genuinely human.
Scarlett in particular is fascinating because she never settles into being simply “good” or “bad.” She is contradictory in exactly the way real people are.
