Sad to say this book is coming across as very derivative. I am 99% sure that the husband most likely had a mistress while she was inside the asylum. I wanted a more original story given Mary Ann Cotton’s story is interwoven, but it feels predictive and unoriginal.

Hmm, not sure I want to read 360 pages of a woman being mentally abused by her husband. We get it. Hoping this plot moves forward…feels very repetitive right now.

For whatever reason, I kept seeing this book everywhere and finally bought it at a used bookstore in Sedona, Arizona. We’re starting out with Clara being released from an insane asylum her husband Henry put her in after she had a miscarriage and suffered depression.
