Thought about it overnight and yeah, I don’t want to keep reading. I don’t want to read nonconsent even if it isn’t directly about a sexual act. I heard such great things about this too, and up until the bond locked in, I started thinking this could be 5 stars. Nope. Especially reading other reviews where she loses her feminine rage about him — after the branding, NOPE.

I’m about to DNF. He is branding her his whore. Unredeemable. DONE WITH HIM. I know he doesn’t want the bond but knowing he can feel her emotions and knowing her husband repeatedly raped her for 8 years? Fuck him.

I hate him even more since he’s making her thought of as a sex slave for reproduction, what’s she’s always thought was worse than death and how her husband treated her.

So sad! Izgath wanted to marry her to protect her, but they were precoitus caught by army boss and he was executed by fire for not confessing. She tried to save him but couldn’t. When torturing her, she confessed — about killing and impersonating her husband. Dragged to Rokath and mating bond locked into place. But she hates him, his cousin the Kral, and even the Fates for taking yet another loved one.

Rokath & Assyria not met yet. He’s in capital city Uzhhorod with cousins, wanting to get to his troops. Angels advancing north of the city. Priestess cousin didn’t know what he meant about supposed drawings of burgundy eyes she’s been sending to Khal. Assyria was caught but accepted by fellow Vezeto (Commander) Izgath; they like each other but nothing has happened yet. Their battalion approaches capital.

LONG BOOK. Immersive reading. Hate the oppressive patriarchy culture, world building is extensive. I’m curious about the propaganda the cousins have erected (not really fates blessed, that oppressive culture and fate worshiping is just for their power?). She’s seeing 3 crows a lot (his tattoo), he’s seeing his priestess cousin’s drawings of her burgundy eyes. Both being/trying to be with other people.
