How is it so far? I’ve been interested in reading more eastern literature, and this one’s been looking interesting.

this is actually my 3rd?? or 4th reread. it’s usually one of the first danmei people start with since it’s pretty accessible and straightforward for the genre, and i do really like it, but i’d definitely say there are better works out there if you end up wanting to explore more danmei

If this is entree level, any suggestions for after?

tbh depends on what you like in general because danmei is a label for the romance and not a genre in itself, so it gets attached to xianxia, wuxia, historical court drama, modern crime thrillers and comedies, and the right next book changes a lot depending on which of those you came for. if you want more cultivation worlds, mo dao zu shi and scum villain's self-saving system are the same author as this one, with svsss being the more comedic of the two. if you'd rather have wuxia and politics with the romance as a slow burn in the background, thousand autumns and ballad of sword and wine and stars of chaos are the ones i'd recommend. if you want modern settings/sci fi id suggest little mushroom
