I'm enjoying the book and am intrigued about what's going to happen, but I'm a bit distracted by some of the slang being used for what's supposed to be 1995 or 1999. One character in 1999 said he "peeped" something. In a message board in 1995 they typed, "lol" and "af." Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure those terms weren't used in the 90s. I wonder if any of the book editors were living in the 90s.

Page 311: “Zahara, have you ever stopped to imagine what life would be like without the interference of the well-meaning inventions that have been tearing us apart?” “We’d be forced to talk to one another again. Forge tight-knit communities. Grow food locally, which is healthier and has more nutrients than shipping it from halfway across the world.”

I find myself thinking about this all of the time.
