Reading this has been one of the most punishing experiences of my life. I’ve been slowly reading it for months. Every time it gets good, I’m caught off guard again by the gratuitous sex scenes between kids. It’s almost ruined Nabokov for me. It doesn’t feel clever or interesting.. I’m disliking this experience more than House of Leaves 😐

I’ve barely been able to read anything else as I’m just stuck in a state of frustrated loathing because of this book 😐
