The relationship described between August and Lincoln is very one-sided when you actually step back and look at it. August is incredibly passive and Lincoln doesn't seem to uplift him or truly care about his opinion.

I find the writing style to be arduous. It's as if the writer is trying too hard. It just doesn't flow well, and I have yet to find anything remotely appealing about the main character thus far.
