I have been reading this book for a cool minute now — so long in fact, that I have developed a parasocial relationship with the deceased author, the gentle mentor, alas, that I never had!
I am in awe of Tufte’s surgical knowledge of syntax, of her way of writing about writing, of her ability to find innumerable examples for any type of syntactic structure possible. An invaluable resource.

This is a dense book, packed with pages and pages of exemplary sentences, accompanied with generous grammatical analysis of how and why each sentence possesses a musical quality, an ability to awe the reader.
By far, this is the best book on writing that I have ever read.
