This is an excellent Merrily Watkins. Rickman always found such interesting material in the Welsh borderlands and was able to tie it together in such interesting and compelling ways.
Probably a series more for older readers, though. Not enough scares or emotional rollercoasters for younger readers.

Another good Merrily Watkins mystery. This time Ludlow Castle, its ghosts and two mysterious deaths. This is the first MW that I've actually been to a place described in the novel. It was a very long time ago, but I think it still counts!

i checked back to see if I'd posted a review, and how i rated it too... and i liked it abit more than OK - the extra half ;)it wasn't my favourite Merrily Watkins novel, but i think it was a good one :)
i just looked at the (slightly scant) notes i made, and i awa all the layers and threads brought/tangled in, i think i liked how it strengthened Lol as a musician, and Merrily in her deliverance role (despite/in spite of some opposition) - maybe it was abit of a turning/cementing point in their lives/careers.
