This reads like a countryside Heyer novel mixed with forbidden magic, Napoleonic war trauma, vegetable gardens, estate law, drunken betrothals, tenancies, plans to declare autonomy from gentry and aristocracy, and (finally) an endless and always entertaining series of misunderstood innuendo. I love it.
