I'm this close 🤏 to DNF-ing this shit. So far all I've seen is Stainer trying to reframe carelessly obnoxious, egotistical and disrespectful male behaviour as missunderstood and worthy of second chance. The message is clear: he is mean because he loves you but doesn't know how to show it. Tylor is a man-child and nothing in him says "well written love interest"

"And I fell to my knees, letting out a guttural cry at the devastating pain of losing him again."
Yeah, kinda hard feeling sorry for her. She did this to herself with her own stupidity. Instead of learning from her mistakes she repeats them. And not only that but doubles down. I know I've said this more than once but the drama in this book is dumb AF. It makes me wanna put my head in a blender.

"And it was too late to ever have a relationship with Tyler Wagner."
Sigh! I fuckin' hate pointless drama. This is just plane stupid. Nothing is standing between them really. Nothing! Just a couple of uncomfortable conversations. Do I think they should be together? No. But if they want to be that's all it'll take. A fuckin' adult conversation. There are no real stakes in this story so can we stop pretending?

For the first time in a long time I hope two people won't end up together in a romance book. I don't see how them breaking two people's hearts for what coud have been is a HEA. This is not love. This is unhealed trauma creating castles in the sky mixed with a lot of excuses for being despicable human beings and dressing up everything as an epic love story. Something they can't help but surrender to.

Is everyone in this book insufferable spoiled selfish brats? Morgan had a tantrum because she wanted a donut truck at her wedding and said donut truck said no to her because they were already book on that date. By a church charity. And Morgan did everything in her power to make them cancel the event and be in her wedding. I just...*sighs*

He took advantage of her when she was emotionally vulnerable at 18. He knew what her mother leaving her did to her and on the next day rejected her too. Then 7 years later he is leading her on with mixed signals. And when confronted and asked why, the answear is "because I miss you friendship and I want it back". I'm just... lost for words. This is some next level self centerd bullshit.

“You know,” he said when I took my first sip. “You’re kind of cute when you can’t talk.”

Ty's dilemma about his father not supporting his decision to help the everyday American is preposterous. It just has no legs. Like at all. All of it sounds more like a first world problem and humble bragging rolled up in one.

Steiner's use of Morgan as instrument to push Jazz & Ty together is so heavy handed. It's almost tacky. Especialy considering that Morgan as a character is glaringly two dementional. She has no other role than being a reason for them to see each other again and a (imaginary) moral obstacle infront of their relationship. Nothing more.

Your livelihood depends on your voice. And two days before a big once in a lifetime event you decide it's a great idea to pickle your liver with ungodly amounts of alcohol, sing on top of your lungs in a crowded smokey karaoke bar and sit on a pier of a windy lake chating with the boy who didn't take your success seriously. Yeah, immature and irresponsible go so well together.
