Unfortunately much weaker than the first book in the trilogy as this one is very much so a literal retelling of the first Halo game. The first novel, a prequel to the game, had a lot more creative freedom and was allowed to play with Master Chief as a character where this one really is on rails. Great easy reading for grad school but kinda boring too.
