Question: when watching a long form YouTube video, what helps you stay engaged with it?

YouTube is going to be updating their requirements for earning money through videos. You now need 2,000 subs and 8,000 long form watch hours. That’s unattainable for little 436 sub 39 long form watch hour me.

So, what makes you WANT to watch a long form video? How can I improve mine?

f_outdoorreads I don’t usually watch a ton of youtube, so I wouldn’t know 😕 sorry!

Sadie Thorne {Izzy Grace} ♡ My older sister likes watching long, relaxing DITL videos, but I prefer either challenges (like Haley Pham’s) or behind-the-scenes videos (like Bethany Atazadeh sometimes does). And writing vlogs like Ana Neu’s keep me very engaged bc they motivate me to write and I’m invested in her books. Oh yeah, and I also really like project videos just like the series you’re doing on the Rapunzel dress!! That one’s awesome! Hope some of these help 🤍🤍

Katniss ⁀➴ {semi new bio} I really like recommendation videos a lot! :) But when it’s not just the most standard book recommendations, I don’t need more people recommending me Powerless when that’s all the comes up LOL

𝔸𝕘𝕟𝕖𝕤 I love videos like Sincerely, Vee's because she makes it feel so cozy and as if we're friends or smth (her account on here is Venus Wambura)

And I loveeeee readathon but also just vlogs, I ADORE vlogs about books or writing or whatever. I think for writing advice videos I like how Abbie emmons is serious and funny and gets to the point.

ChildOfGod💜🙌🏽 (for God I live and for God I die) ~ in my Christian pop era Honestly the persons personality. Like I will watch an hour long one if I like the persons personality and ofc if it’s on something I’m interested in.

Sydney Smile ( SENIOR YEAR BABYYYY ) this is so sad considering I'm starting a booktube soon 😭 honestly it's really easy for me to stay engaged in a long-form video bc I play them in the background while I crochet, draw, work out etc. I think keeping content evenly balanced between smth that you don't have to be actively watching to understand (eg a reccomendation vid or smth) and vids where you do have to be actively watching (eg a vlog) will reach two different target audiences (those who like yt vids for background noise and those who like to actually sit down and watch yt vids) and then maybe make your overall views go up?? I hope I'm making sense. idk just a theory kinda lol. gl babes 🫶
