Interesting how both Lewis and Tolkien (both WWI veterans) describe bravery with Peter and Samwise. They don’t say they swelled up with feelings of courage or anything. Actually in the brave moments those characters actually felt fear but it says they didn’t really think about it. They just have an instant overwhelming feeling of knowing what to do and they act on it.

“Safe? Don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King I tell you!”

“Well I aint gonna sniff it if that’s what you want!”

“We might all try minding our own business.”

Amen professor.

In defiance of Netflix and Greta Gerwig I’m reading this. Boo hollywood.
