Nietzsche resigned from his student corps, burned his walking sticks, forswore smoking and roistering, and bade farewell to Strauss and Offenbach forever. His carefree days were over. Ever after, he harbored a lifelong aversion to smoking, beer-drinking, and all biergemütlichkeit.
He said that beer-drinkers could never understand him because they lack the perception to even solve the basic problems!
