This is a wearying entry into the series. The Karsa saga should have been a separate book at this rate and that would have saved 300+ pages. The style of writing has also shifted in this book. I can't put my finger on it exactly but it lacks some of the mystery and tone of the previous books. This feels like the Slog in The Wheel of Time.

The first 200 pages have been a bit tough.
