Chapter one introduces Thomas who seemed to be the main guy. Who saves this baby girl (she’s probably only like 9) from being raped by his fellow survivors.
Slaughtering all but Jacquot, who had left the barn to get the girl, he felt guilty about wanting to rape her but still got her anyway.
