i wanted something lighthearted before jumping into a long classic and this is definitely working. anticipate it’ll be a 3.5 star read — murdoch is good here, great even, but not at her best. character work is subtle, brief and masterful as always, as is her dialogue and razor-sharp prose, but the plot seems a little stale and predictable, especially the stuff with the siblings - bit overwrought i’d say!
