ohhh the narrow combat veteran lens of exceptionalizing the battlefield as a site of death/loss/trauma is what happens when you think about tragedy as intended and performed solely for a (free) male audience

I am trying so hard to keep an open mind but this particular veteran's account of the experiences that led him to relate to Ajax is really something. like ok I'm sorry you felt like your superiors were betraying you and your unit by not letting you slaughter random Iraqi civilians who didn't appreciate your sacrifice on their behalf. I hit how Doerries describes Tecmessa and literally slammed the book shut.
