Just been reading whenever I have downtime downstairs since last update. Don’t know how I jumped over 50 pages… I did about 20 mins in the car. Me when i remember I love reading. Anyway. I’m obsessed with her ability to write like a 5yo. The “Ma smells like conditioner, ew, too silky” is brilliantly done, exactly how young kids talk.

So, I think it was great. Got interrupted a lot in the last 70 pages. And even more in the last 15 and worse in the last 3. Yet I still got fairly emotional. The slow beginning was a bit rough. The end was a bit slow too. But I think it’s exactly what the story wants so I cannot critique it. I also believe the POV really completes the story and I doubt the movie being outside Jack’s head won’t be as good. 4+ I think

Read about 30 more pages. In the car with music and interruptions on the way home from the hospital so I wasn’t gripped as I could be. But Ma got interviewed. It was a long scene, I understand the criticism that the end is the author’s critique on the world not Jack’s POV. Although I enjoy getting to see an adult conversation helps connect our alien POV to the ‘normies’ around us

read all of 'dying' in one sitting, 1.5 hours Great lovely at the start I was annoyed to still be in the head of a child but I persevered, I wanted to read the story and I'm no longer sick of being Jack. kids are smarter and stronger than anyone will ever give them credit for. on to 'after'!!!!!1 so much book left. I wonder what they may explore. I wonder if officer Oh will get their stuff, or maybe arrest Old Nick
