The first proverb(s) Absence makes the heart grow fonder/Out of sight, out of mind. Great contradiction between the two which the book does well explaining the origins of both and how they can both be right - explained in the 17th century by a frenchman "Absense is to love what wind is to fire. It extinguishes the small, it kindles the great." Where 'small' love the out of sight saying wins out.
