Just the creepy and sublime start I was hoping for. Ghosts, a disturbing painting wrecking lives, post-war London - I’m well into it.

I’ve read War in Heaven by this author, thanks to a Fantasy-focused reading guide, and now I’m on to this one because of a Horror reading guide. I was thinking of reading this as close to Halloween Night as possible - even on the night, of course - but Robert Stack kicked in, with his “that’s just what they’ll be expecting…”.
