Everything about these characters is utterly repugnant. In that way, they are everything to be desired. Morally inept and calculated individuals who would make Aristotle proud. They seem like a group of stars, all orbiting one another and giving life to those around them with no intention of doing so. I hope that their constellation is beautiful.

Bunny is dead and the repercussions are setting in. The reaction is mystifying to me. These characters are the epitome of human and the throes of modern society. Cold, calculated, and worried for only their own convenience. They are, in both ways, lost to history and grounded in the present.

this book is frigid and cold. maybe it’s the immersion and reading about richard being constantly cold but i feel an unshakeable frost deep in my bones. the characters seem cold too. not mean or icy by any stretch but frozen in a way that makes them seem like a forgone conclusion to a story they’re still telling. i wish i could get warm.

This is some of the most beautiful writing that I’ve ever encountered. Slow and lazy yet vibrant and colorful in a way that it feels like a spoonful of honey.
