In its first of three chapters, Barnes introduces three aeronauts and makes their endeavours seem like fiction, but it is all true. Barnes equates their duty to reaching the skies to the sin of height: flying as opposed to God’s wishes, eventually purging ourselves of this sin. Beautiful.
