She's right. She's saying nothing new but still needs saying. Too much competition between skin color and gender, too much classism between one art and another based just on access to materials. Poetry became an outlet for me when health made brevity necessary. I can't picture poetry being seen as "lesser" simply because it might take less time or involve fewer words.
