Maybe it’s that it feels like a YA book attempting to be an adult book? I didn’t read the authors other series that it seems fans LOVED back in the day.

I hate these characters, the writing is not good, zero chemistry. It’s like somebody who heard about romance novels decided to give it a go, by throwing some lewd lined into the dialog. I’m still slogging through this, but it’s awful.
