Meyer wrote this book to prove that there would be no difference if Bella was a man and she’s somewhat right. However, she has brought an interesting challenge to other characters and their gender. Edward’s stalker behavior seems creepy. But I interpret Edythe’s as more protective/maternal. But fundamentally they are the same “creepy” behavior. Meyer is making me question my own gender essentialist biases

Super interesting how Stephanie clearly equates physical beauty with moral goodness. Edythe and Archie are beautiful so they are good. While the bad vampires hunting Beau are surely also beautiful, she takes no time to really describe them as such and only comments on those dirty clothes and leaves in their hair

Edythe uses the same justification as Edward that she and Beau cannot have sex because his weak human body is too fragile. Edward’s argument could easily be construed as, his strong thrusting would have killed Bella. Therefore we must assume one of two things. 1) Edythe is implying that her pussy is so strong it could strangle Beau’s dick. Or 2) she would intend to peg him which would break him. Debate.

Meyer may have gender bent the whole cast (sans Charlie), made a bunch of buff women who are woke enough to stand against gender norms, and kept Beau just as beige, clumsy, and obsessed as Bella. But don’t get it mistaken. It’s still clearly Christian. We get Edythe Cullen blatantly stating she things vampire were made by God
