It’s so easy to just keep reading this book. It’s very flowy and much of the dialogue repeats as the characters remember their past so it just keeps moving. The narrative is pieced together through the accounts of several people that ether worked at this powerful man’s farm or visited him. He bent the ear of the country’s dictator for many years.

The first chapter ends with a well-written monologue from the majority stockholder in the main character’s wife’s family business. He is super bitter and conniving.

So far I’m reminded of the flowy writing of the Septology novel I read earlier this year. There’s a lot of stream of consciousness that even blends memories with what’s happening in the moment.
