It wasn’t my first winter in Indiana, but I never got used to that level of cold that makes the little hairs in your nose freeze and bristle like cactus spines, till you want to stop breathing. Months of ice and mud, and now here came crocuses, songbirds, light winning over dark like something out of the Bible.
