Annabelle’s Reviews > Northanger Abbey > Status Update

If Wednesday should ever come!

It did come, and exactly when it might be reasonably looked for.

i do love when a day arrives exactly on time.

this man looks at her face and just sees right into her soul, doesn’t he

“Oh! no, no - do not say so.

Well, go on.”

this is so funny honestly. and relatable. who wouldn’t want to stay in a haunted abbey with hidden passageways and secret manuscripts??

Catherine girl, this is sus. why is the dad so obsessed with us?

“You men have none of you any hearts.”

“If we have not hearts, we have eyes; and they give us torment enough.”

petition to have everyone speak this way again.

Isabella is such a hot mess

“I do not understand you.”

“Then we are on very unequal terms, for I understand you perfectly well.”

are all of Austen’s heroines like this lol

“Miss Morland, no one can think more highly of the understanding of women than I do. In my opinion, nature has given them so much, that they never find it necessary to use more than half.”

lmao 😂 but also please Henry, go on…

“Miss Morland is not used to your odd ways.”

“I shall be most happy to make her better acquainted with them.”

oh.

A woman especially, if she have the misfortune of knowing any thing, should conceal it as well as she can.

still not sure what this book is about, but it doesn’t even matter. every sentence is brilliant.
