So far I have been very annoyed, intrigued and very nauseous. Certainly chapter 6 was hard to digest. Reading about this dark part of history through a human lense is very difficult. It makes me a bit scared for the rest of the book as I imagine Sophie's renditions of her time in Auschwitz will become more detailed and intense as the story progresses.

I'm starting to dislike the main character more and more. And I can't help to wonder why the book comes across as so pretentious. Am I just following the main character and he is just really dislikeable to me, or is it the author who is covering up the lack of emotional depth with complex writing or better yet ...just a lot of words. Not a fan so far.
