About the "vanished forbears" of the life on earth today, the one-celled beings which evolved the earliest types of RNA (I may be jumping the gun a bit there). Written in a very laid back style, twenty short chapters, each with a few suggestions for reading for the non-specialist - and has a (modest) index. Like so far.
