I am glad I stuck with those appalling early chapters this book rocks along.

After a terrible gruesome start.
The story found an unpleasant equilibrium. Whilst harsh violent and cruel the story unfolds and has a reading intensity and thriller about it.
The harshness is lightened by the conversations between the protagonist and his dog.
I will probably end up with a 3+ rating.
