Being playful with kids is a better way to get them to listen than a power struggle.

Food: acknowledge feelings, do not reward or punishing eating. Involve them in entire or parts of process of cooking, from choosing the ingredients at the store to helping with making dinner. Keep tempting foods out of sight. Give them choices of food.
