The author has a bad habit of making the women do stupid things in order to put them in danger. It’s completely opposite to who they were in the beginning of the novel. And it is incredibly frustrating when they know they’re doing stupid things and they still do stupid things. Luckily the book is almost over otherwise I would DNF. As it stands, I have no plan to read anything else in this series or by this author

I almost skipped this book because of a DNF review calling the FMC an asshole and criticizing her feminism. Having reached the supposedly offensive scene, I’m confused. She has ONE internal thought about not needing a man to rescue her, then accepts his help! She’s competent, independent, and clearly uncomfortable relying on others. How exactly does that make her an asshole?
