Fascinating dialogue between this book and May We Feed the King, with two very different approaches to working with an archive and excavating a past which reverberates in the present - this is the one which speaks to me.

Ananya Kaimathuruthil Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is this a form of poetic prose? (Haven't read the book, just asking as a poetry-lover)

Roman Clodia Not a stupid question at all, and the book is a mix of styles, mostly prose but with inserts of another voice in verse.

Ananya Kaimathuruthil Ah, thank you for the reply! Have been thinking about this as a result of Anne Carson's recent Nobel Prize win - it's good to see poetry in the limelight :)

Ananya Kaimathuruthil P.S. The book sounds interesting, though it's a little outside my comfort zone, literature-wise, but I may give it a try anyway.

Roman Clodia If you like poetry you may like her previous book: A Ghost in the Throat.

Ananya Kaimathuruthil Thank you, RC! Her previous book sounds more to my taste than this one. (personally don't like gothic overtones)
