I just finished the first part, ‘Book 1: Before’! It reminds me some of the Handmaid’s Tale 😅 which I avoid like the plague. I like how Lowry is shining a light on how the story differs depending on if it’s from a boy or a girl’s point of view (I did wonder what the Birthmother process was like). The ending of Book 1 has me hooked! Lowry’s writing style has me on the edge of my seat

I just finished ‘Book 2: Between’! I really loved this section. I grew fond of every character in the village Claire washed up on, and found myself sad when she was preparing to climb the wall in pursuit of her son, leaving them all behind. I’m nervous to see what happens after Claire made her trade 👀 very anxious!
