the grip aubrey & maturin has on me is crazy. fitzroy was just made post after being a commander for 6 years and he was like, some was made before me after just a year etc and all I could think was hey jack too ;-;

hmmm. darwin was arguing what was happening in south america wasn't slavery, trying to justify it, saying the natives there are closer to animal than human etc while fitzroy was arguing against him. I know for a fact that one day they'll fall out over this issue but it'll be fitzroy who support slavery and darwin who was against it so it'll be interesting to see when exactly did they switch their views.

natural selection is cool and all but weather forecast is way more useful on the daily basis. I hope they're arguing whether whose invention/discovery is better down there in hell.

I really should have paid more attention in class when they were teaching abt history of scientific research and stuff. Sooo many of their thinking stem from the bible and that's super fascinating.
