Her past and her future collided right here, in this moment. Her dark past laid bare, her future spread before her.

"Kate." He was rubbing his hair with her towel. He'd used her towel. Oh my.
Words. Words were good. She'd use some. "Good morning, Kyle."

What had possessed her to ask a literal stranger out to dinner? Oh God and the finger guns. She groaned aloud. Why? Just, why?

“Do you have nightmares every night, or only when you’re in bed with me?” She flinched. He felt it. He exhaled roughly. “Shit, I’m sorry Kate. I didn’t mean—I don’t like feeling helpless.”

She laughed a little. “You’re never helpless, Kyle.” She thought he was a freaking Boy Scout.

“I am around you,” he muttered.
