Jesse Hilson’s Reviews > The Fall into Time > Status Update

Burning through this and enjoying it in spite of its relentless pessimism. Cioran is a great stylist and that lightens it a bit. This makes me want to read all of Cioran and all of Nietzsche. Don’t read this when tired though! I have been doing that and dropping a lot of the balls I’m supposed to be juggling

Dense and full of paradoxical reversals which feel born of a post-Nietzschean 20th century. I’m not sure if these are ironies because I don’t know fully what irony is and because they feel encased in, or baked into, Cioran’s sense of grammar.

Maybe not the best guy to go on a long car ride with.
