This is my first Donna Leon book (I’ve heard of her for over 15 years, and have just gotten around to reading this one). It’s quite a contrast to Henry Chang’s Year of the Dog - both give a deep look into the culture of their settings, but the writing styles give distinct flavors of the places and people.
