Chapter 21 is proving to be very difficult to get through.
Simmons packs the pages with complex 19th century naval and boat terminology which is making it overwhelming and exceptionally difficult to navigate.
Perhaps the exhaustion of reading this chapter was Simmons intent, and thus makes him a genius writer, in terms of him wanting you to feel a similar exhaustion to the ship's crew.
