Daphne du Maurier has a voice that is unmistakable. There is some kind of mystery and cloudiness that she drapes her characters in, and it makes you struggle to see inside them, desperate to understand them and what makes them tick.
It has been so long since I read this that it is entirely new to me! How wonderful.

I was surprised again at how much I like this author when I read this a couple years ago.

I have read all her books, some more than once, but it had been so long ago for this one that I was surprised not to have any recall of any events. Kind of wonderful to feel that I am reading her again as if it were the first time around.
Great description. This author's books have been on my to-read list for a while!
Hope you get to her soon, Julie. Guaranteed fun.
I read most of her books as a teenager - definitely time to reread this (which I remember really enjoying) and all the others.
They hold up very well, Rosemary, as most very good writers do. I hate when I pick up a book I once loved and find it is drivel. Makes me wonder about myself. 🙃 No fears with du Maurier, she was a master and still is.
